BRAIDWOOD—Rebecca Lynn Bowen, 59, of Braidwood, formerly of Lockport, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019 at her home.
She was born Oct. 20, 1960 in Chicago and was a graduate of Lockport Township High School with the class of 1978. Becky was a proud homemaker, she devoted her life to her husband and raising her three beautiful children and grandchildren. She was known in the community as a devout servant to the Lord. She was a member and treasurer of the Main Street Baptist Church in Braidwood for decades. She was a committed volunteer, who spent many hours serving families at the Braidwood Food Pantry. Other than volunteering, Becky also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading.
Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Jeff J. Bowen, who she married Nov. 24, 1978 in Lockport; three children: Dakota Raye (Christopher) Pahr, of Goodlettsville, TN; Spc. Austin Taylor Bowen, of Braidwood and Chance Houston Gifford (Jade) Bowen, of Wilmington; five grandchildren: Kaylie Etzkorn, Damian Mixen, Nickolas Bowen, Elijah Bowen and Matthias Bowen; her father, Harold Richard (Sue) Elliott, of Benton, IL; two siblings, Dale Elliott, of Madison, TN and Cindy (Tim) Coleman, of Goodlettsville, TN and numerous nieces and nephews.
Becky is preceded in death by her mother, Edith Lucille (nee Shroyer) Elliott.
Visitation for Becky will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory, Braidwood, Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will also be at the funeral home, Friday, Nov. 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Lemont, IL.
