Gregg Marek

ELWOOD—Gregg Marek, “Duke,” 63, of Elwood, passed away Feb. 2, 2020.
Born July 11, 1956 in Chicago, Gregory Alan was a son of Victor Joseph and Marianne Barbara (Bizat) Marek. He was raised and educated in Lemont, from where he graduated high school. Gregg went on to honorably serve in the United States Air Force, and later worked for Amoco in Channahon for more than 20 years as a Chemical Operator, as well as in management. He most recently held employment with Signode Midwest Steel in Bridgeview. Gregg loved to shoot, was an avid gun collector, and will be remembered as a great Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors include his wife, Christine, who he married Nov. 18, 1996; two daughters, Chastity (John) Ahern and Rebecca Lynn Marek; two step-children, Cassandra Rambo and Kevin Rambo Jr.; numerous grandchildren, as well as great-grandchildren; his sister, Robyn Marek, of Lockport and his mother-in-law, Bonnie (Butch) Chellino, of Braidwood.
Gregg was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
The family will assemble at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Rd., Wilmington on Friday, July 10, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. A procession will then depart at 9 a.m. for Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, where military honors will be rendered at 9:30 a.m. Gregg will be laid to rest in the columbarium.
A memorial luncheon and celebration of Gregg's Life will be held at Diamond Banquet Hall, 55 S. Daley St. in Diamond immediately following the cemetery services.
