Bettye J. Thompson

BRAIDWOOD—Bettye J. Thompson (nee Woodward), 86, of Braidwood,  passed away Nov. 23, 2018 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.  
Born March 11, 1932 in Ravenna, OH, she was the daughter of Manford and Opal (nee Turpin) Woodward. Bettye enjoyed baking, quilting and yardwork. She was a dedicated lifelong caregiver for her youngest daughter, Linda.  
Surviving are three daughters: Janice (David) Hale, of Braidwood; Brenda (Clarence) Heber, of Bonfield and Linda Thompson, of Clifton, IL; grandchildren: David A. Hale, Patrick A. Hale, Heather Pickard and Andrea Wolcott and great-grandchildren: Colten Pickard, Connor Pickard, Ethan Pickard, Evan Pickard, Nate Wolcott and Ben Wolcott.  
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Roscoe Thompson, who she married June 3, 1950 in Princeton, IN and 10 brothers and sisters.   
Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018 from 1-4 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. followed by the service at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory at 12:00 p.m.  Interment will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.  
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her name may be directed to Presence Merkle-Knipprath Countryside in Clifton, IL.
