Thanksgiving is a family thing, unlike Christmas when our good cheer extends to all. My mind goes back to the Thanksgiving table at Grandma's house with all the cousins, and finally being old enough to sit at the adult table. Another Thanksgiving spent in the hospital after my son was born, and the phone call from the family celebration wishing me well and describing the meal which was much better than the one in front of me. Today we look at Thanksgiving away from family for the first time in a letter home from the front.
