The Reed-Custer softball team played with a lot of heart on Monday but Herscher was just too tough to beat on their own field. The hosting Tigers won it 7-3.
Herscher tallied six runs in the first four innings before the Comets would get into the action with a three-run fifth inning that would narrow the deficit to 6-3.
Ally Shaw laced a double into the left centerfield gap to lead off the inning. Then, Abby Sunday singled to put two on base with one out.
